Slider Scale

A Slider Scale question displays a horizontal slider under the question text. The respondent can slide the slider from left to right to set the numeric value of their answer.

Typically, a Slider Scale would be used to capture a percentage or another number that would fall within a fixed range. For example, you could ask the respondent how many cars they own. 

Creating Slider Scale Questions 

To create your Slider Scale question:

1. Click Add Question on your survey
2. From the menu, select Slider Scale
3. Type your question in the Question field
4. If you want to add multiple slider scales to your question, you can toggle Enable Multiple Sliders to enter multiple answer choices. In the Answer Choices fields, type the text that will be displayed on the left-hand side of each field
5. You can adjust the start point, increment ammount, as well as scale range by toggling on Adjust Slider Scale
   
   • In the Scale Range fields, type the values you want to appear at the top and bottom ends of the slider
   • In the Increment field, choose how quickly the figure will increase or decrease as the slider is moved
   • In the Starting Value field, choose where you want the slider to be positioned when the survey initially loads. Remeber this is only where the handle rests before the respondent interacts, and isn't recorded as an answer
6. Show Scale Labels lets you add text labels to the left, middle and right of the slider scale. This will override your numeric scale if set in the above step, allowing you to mix labels and numeric value on the same slider. You can also add an optional middle label to a slider with a numeric scale
7. Show Value Box allows you to add a previx or suffix to your numeric values section. This is added to the start/end of the numeric values on your scale as well as the number displayed to the right of the slider. It is omitted from labels
   
   • In the Value Suffix field, type the character you would like to display after the value
   • In the Value Prefix field, type the character you would like to display before the value
   • Leave them blank if you do not need a suffix or prefix
8. You can toggle on or off the Show Progress Fill button to fill in the bar from the left side to the handle when the respondent moves it. This is useful for ammount-style sliders, but can be hindering for scales like "Strongly Disagree" to "Strongly Agree" so consider turning it off for those​
9. Finally, you can see a preview that updates in realtime of what your question will look like once saved in the Preview window located towards the bottom of the question editor window
10. Click the green Save Question button to add the question to your survey.

Sub-headings

Click  the "Insert Heading" button (next to "add/edit in bulk") to add an option as a Sub-heading. Sub-headings are editable, and can be moved in the order of options, but will not have a slider for respondents. Options added as subheadings are marked with an "H" Icon.

I've Ended Up With Multiple Scales, Why Is That?

This is probably because you've tried to enter your desired increments into the answer choices fields. This question type doesn't allow you to directly set the increments for the answer, or have respondents answer with anything but numbers. If you need to do these, then you'll need to use another question type.
