Adding a link to a question

Adding a link to a question is fairly simple, though some care needs to be taken when doing so.

The main thing is that users generally want to make sure that the linked page is opened in a new browser window, rather than the one that contains the survey – because if it opens in the survey window, the respondent may not be able to complete the survey.

  1. In the survey, create your question, and write your question text, including any text that you want to use as the hyperlink to the file.
  2. Click “Enable Editor”
  3. Select the section of text you want to use as the hyperlink and click the “link” icon.
  4. Type or paste the URL of the page you want to link to into the "URL:" box.
  5. Click the “target” tab of the dialogue box and choose “New Window (_blank)”
  6. Click “OK”

Your question should now contain a link to the desired page.

It’s always a good idea to test things like this with the preview function to ensure the link is behaving as expected.
