You can prevent respondents from going backwards in a survey once each page is submitted. This is useful if you want to monitor or control completion times and is important when using Skip Logic to stop people from going back and changing their answer.
In some surveys, there may be a risk that later responses could influence those given earlier in the survey. Preventing returning to a previous page removes the risk that answers to these questions will be biased.
Hiding the Survey Back Button
To stop people backtracking in a survey:
- Go to the Settings tab in the navigation menu to the left of your survey. in the Survey Settings menu, select Appearance (selections pictured below)

- Scroll down to the Hide Survey Previous Button, and toggle the setting to Yes.
- Click Save Changes to apply.
